Why mum and me yoga?

Mum & Me yoga is a fun, relaxed way to move together, strengthen your bond, and support your toddler’s confidence and coordination while you gently unwind and reconnect with your body.

Why choose me?

While my yoga journey began on the mat at home, my expertise in working with children is built on years of experience. I am proud to work as an Early Learning and Childcare Officer which means my approach to 'Mum and Me' yoga is rooted in:

Professional Accountability:

I am fully SSSC registered, ensuring my practice meets the highest standards of social service and care.

Safety First:

I hold a current PVG (Protecting Vulnerable Groups) membership, so you can feel confident and secure in my space.

Developmental Expertise:

My background in Child Development training allows me to tailor yoga flows to match your child's milestones, focusing on everything from sensory play to early speech and language through song and movement."

Why I Use the "3 R’s" on the Yoga Mat (And Why it Matters for Your Child)

In Scotland our national guidance, Realising the Ambition: Being Me, isn't just a document—it’s a way of seeing the world through a child’s eyes.

As an ELCO I spend my days ensuring your little ones get the best start in life. When I decided to launch Sarah Dee Yoga, I knew I didn't want to leave my professional expertise at the door. Instead, I’ve built my Mum and Me classes around the "3 R’s" that define high-quality childcare in Scotland.

1. Relationships: The Heart of the Mat

In Realising the Ambition, we talk about how "attachment and secure relationships are the platform for all future learning."

In Yoga: My classes aren't about a teacher at the front and a student at the back. They are about the bond between you and your child. You will use partner poses, eye contact, and shared breath to strengthen that "secure base," making the mat a safe space for your child to explore.

2. Responsive Care: Listening Beyond Words

Responsive care means noticing a child’s cues and responding with sensitivity.

In Yoga: No two toddlers are the same! Some days they are full of "wriggles," and other days they need quiet. Because of my Child Development training, I don't force a rigid routine. If the energy in the room shifts, our flow shifts. I respond to where the children are emotionally and physically, ensuring they feel "seen" and understood.

3. Respect: Honouring the Individual

Respect in the early years means valuing the child as a capable, confident individual.

In Yoga: We practice autonomy. If a child wants to be a "Lion" while we are doing "Tree pose," we celebrate that creativity! By respecting their choices on the mat, we build their self-esteem and body agency—key milestones in the Curriculum for Excellence.

The "Professional" Peace of Mind

I know how much trust it takes to join a new group. That’s why I bring my professional standards to every session. I am SSSC registered, a current PVG scheme member, and fully trained in the latest Scottish Early Years guidance. When you join a Sarah Dee Yoga class, you’re getting more than a workout; you’re getting a session backed by years of experience in childhood practice.
